The Hofer family and the “Castelletto Estate”

From a “rustico” with no electricity to a dream villa

In 2003, Norbert and Hildegard Hofer from the South Tyrolean village of Deutschnofen fulfilled a dream: they bought a piece of land, including an old rustico, a derelict property, on Lake Garda. While the couple and their three children, Lukas, Maibrit and Hansjörg, initially spent their holidays in the old rustico, with neither electricity nor running water, in 2005 they renovated it and in 2013 built a second house of wood – today’s Villa Castelletto. In 2022 a third house was built on the “Castelletto Estate”, the Villetta Ca’ Stella, with Maibrit Hofer as hostess and manager.

Norbert and Hildegard still love to spend their summers in the original rustico. Passionate gardeners, they carefully look after not only the large garden, the numerous fruit trees, the chickens and the bees – but also the guests who spend their holidays in the two villas of Castelletto and Ca’ Stella. What could be better than living where other people spend their holidays?

Our values, our philosophy – our reasons:

The olive grove, herb and vegetable garden, natural swimming pond and wooden construction all quickly make one thing clear: sustainability is not just a fad for the Hofer family, but a value by which they live. This is why the highlight here is not simply the pool, the sauna or the outdoor kitchen – it is the palpable closeness to nature that makes the “Castelletto Estate” so special. A paradise can only really be sensed when it is seen not merely with the eyes, but also with the heart.
